Re: Dividing dialogue

Hi Mike:

Mine is like Eric's – when I select Action >> Divide the box for the number of divisions is on focus and I can enter the number I want directly without doing anything.

Edit Menu – x and y positions

I've always had a bit of trouble using the x and y coordinates in the Edit menu – so I've been experimenting! Here are the results: Assume we have a vertical line, so x1 and x2 are the same. My drawing was at 1:20 scale in mm – not that that matters. Move : Entering -500 in the x1 and x2 boxes moves...

Re: Mirror and rotate suggestion/request

Hi Mike I think you can do all of that in RealCADD ok. "⌘M >> Circular >> First Circle or Arc" gives you multiple rotations about any centre you choose (I usually select "or next click" because my pivot point is usually already drawn, so I don't have to fuss about the actual x an...

Re: Scaling and Dimensions-a new thread

Oh – I think just as it is now – by a multiple. We are only suggesting renaming an existing function really. Then if you want to resize something from 3¼" to 5½" say, you just do the sum 5.5/3.25 = 1.692 and use that as the resizing factor. If something is made up of lots of lines, curves,...

Re: Scaling and Dimensions-a new thread

Yes Mike – my resized 5" pulley will dimension at 5" and if I move it 6" down the mast, it moves 6". Because it's still at the same scale (the Drawing Scale) – just bigger. I really think if Eric changed the "Action >> Scale" function to read "Action >> Resize"...

Re: Scaling and Dimensions-a new thread

Hi Mike I think the problem is partly one of semantics. The Drawing Scale is getting confused with the Scale command. I really think that the Scale command is just as it should be – it scales an object – makes it smaller or bigger – but doesn't change the actual drawing scale of the object, the draw...

Re: Scaling and Dimensions-a new thread

Um ... I've had a few glasses of red wine after a hard day splitting logs in readiness for the winter – so I may not be getting the point perfectly. But if you scale a drawing to a new scale and then wish to continue drawing at the new scale, you need to set the scale of that layer to the new scale ...

Re: Rescaling

Mike – All my drawings, when printed out, have to be to scale (I mean a scale that is on a scale rule) and that is true of pretty much all engineering, constructional and architectural etc. drawings. So starting with a scale in mind is not so much of a hardship – in fact it seems normal to me. You c...

Re: Windowshades

Oh! I didn't read your post properly – I though you wanted the Print window to stay open – but on re-reading I see it is the Edit menu. So I'm glad to have been of help :D
