Trimming

Post by Mikerosen »

Is it possible to trim out the short section of vertical line, shown in the circle? Is there a way to select the upper and lower horizontals as limits, and delete the section in between?

Yes Mike, it is possible but not in one time.

You can do this with the tool "extend and cut lines".
Look the options of this tool.
First time, select only extend + cut.
Use the tool from the vertical line to one of the horizontals.
Now you have 2 vertical lines but one is too long.
Second time, select extend + cut + delete
Use the tool from the side that you want conserve of the too long vertical line to the second horizontal.
Done.

You can also draw 2 new vertical lines with the attraction and delete the old.

Thanks

I see. I have to think of it a little differently, though. I visualize it as drawing the tool line from the line I want to keep, to the line that is the limit. Just a matter of semantics, but it helps me!

It's a little confusing, since when you make the first cut, without the delete, there is no indication that anything has happened. However, if you click on the line with the selection tool, you see that it has become two segments.

Thanks for the help.

What is the purpose and use of the "second line" switch in that tool?
