Print Problems

Hi Eric

I'm having all sorts of troubles with the Print command.

It doesn't show the usual window with the PDF button at the bottom and either crashes RealCADD or gets endless printer messages that I can't stop!

I don't actually want to print - I want to save as PDF.

I think there must be a bug?

Cheers -- George

Bonjour George,

Which OS and which version of RealCADD?
With Catalina and v5.02, I don't have problem.

Cordialement.

Hi Eric

I think it has got to be Big Sur (why did I ever upgrade I always ask myself!!)

So - I'm running Big Sur and v. 5.02b4. But I've tried with earlier versions down to v. 4.91b3 and it produces the same problem.

With most existing drawings if I try to print (to save to PDF) I get this:

Screenshot 2020-11-19 at 05.41.37.png (214.61 KiB) Viewed 2408 times
Which basically crashes RealCADD and is hard to get out of. If I simply Force Quit it is OK, but if I touch a RealCADD menu I have to force shut down the computer.

With a new drawing, or empty new drawing I seem to get this:

Screenshot 2020-11-19 at 05.51.14.png (88.24 KiB) Viewed 2408 times
Which if I click cancel, will change to this:

Screenshot 2020-11-19 at 05.51.41.png (182.69 KiB) Viewed 2408 times
And which allows me to print to PDF OK

I haven't been able to ascertain if it is all old drawings that give the first problem or just some of them. I can send you a drawing that does give the first problem if it is any use,

Cheers -- George

Now here's a funny thing:

After I had done all the print tests in my earlier post, I opened a new untitled drawing and copied the contents of one of the drawings that produced the first problem (lots of printer warnings) into it.

When I hit Print it went straight into the correct print screen!

And now it seems as if I can print any drawing (to PDF – I don't actually print anything) perfectly OK! Including ones which wouldn't print before. It's like RealCADD (or Big Sur or something) has "learned" to print ok.

I haven't had the problem with other programs.

I am puzzled to say the least! But long may it last.

Cheers -- George
