RealCADD and Mac M1

Bonjour à tous,

While some software has difficulties to switch to 64 bits and therefore cannot run on the latest macOS, this is not the case with RealCADD.
I am also pleased to announce that RealCADD works perfectly on the new Mac M1 via Rosetta 2.
And I can compile RealCADD for M1 processors but without the scripts.
So since Rosetta 2 works very well, I will wait until I can compile with the scripts.

Previous transitions have been more problematic than this one...
Good for me!

Bravo Eric!!

I have to say I would love a new MacBook Air with the M1 chip – but can't really justify the expense at the moment ... as my current MacBook Air is only about a year old.

I started designing sailboats on a Mac SE30 with a 9" mono screen (though I had Apple II's before that for general work), so it's been a long journey. My SE30 still actually runs and I have a couple of programs (in BASIC) that I occasionally use under emulation on my current mac!

I use scripts in RealCADD with a couple of scripts – BeamCamber and SideDeck – which are sort of specialist surface creating scripts.

All the best for 2021 – let's hope it's a better year than 2020. At least we will have a normal competent caring administration in the US instead of the shitshow of the last four years

Cheers -- George

Merci George!

I began with the first Mac: the Macintosh 128k and, as you, I still have an old SE30 which runs.
I never had an Apple II.

All best to you too for 2021 (with a new President ;-))

Cordialement.

If you have a new Mac M1, you can now test the native ARM version of RealCADD 5.02b4 but without scripts.

Voilà !

Looking forward – will the versions of RealCADD for the M1 chip and the Intel chips diverge??

Happy New Year -- George

George,

At short-term, no.
And I will update both versions as long as Xojo can compile for both too.
But, perhaps, Mac with Intel chips will become obsolete one day ?

Happy New Year too!
