Architectural Walls

How do I draw architectural "walls"?

Can they be "joined"?

It would be helpful to have some example files to play with.

Has anyone done any real architectural work with this program?

Bonjour jessepps,

RealCADD is a common CAD software which draws only lines, polygons, ellipses,... but it dosen't know walls or doors...
But you can easily draw parallel objects (lines or polygons) which can represent walls.
In the package you have 2 examples of drawings but they are engineering drawings not architectural.

You can't exactly draw walls (like you could in ClarisCad for example) and then join them, cut them etc. But you can do pretty much the same thing by using the "parallel" tool and then the "line" tool if you want a single straight wall, or the "polygon" tool if you want a continuous wall that changes direction. You can set 'parallel' to either right side or the left side or both. If you set it to both, you will get a third centre line down the walls which you will need to delete.

Once your walls are drawn you can cut them or join them (you will need to convert polygons to lines). And you can hatch them or texture them simply by selecting the appropriate lines - you may need to close the ends with a line. To fill them you will need to select them and convert to polygon.

I design sailboats professionally and I use RealCADD for all the structural and engineering drawings and all the files for items to be CNC cut. So there are indeed people doing real work with the program.
