setting preferences

Post by Mikerosen »

It's been so long since I've done it, that I forgot!

How do I set my "template" preferences: scale, text size and font, etc.?

Thanks,

Mike

Basically I don't think you can do it completely.

I think (no doubt Eric will correct me if I'm wrong  ) that RealCADD saves the preferences for each drawing. Thus if you are working on a drawing and save it and close it, it will open with that particulars set of preferences. A new drawing opens with the preferences of the last saved drawing (I think), and the font particulars and scale of the last saved drawing too. I think, perhaps in addition to the Templates proposed below, it would be nice to be able to set at least a default font and font size in Preferences, like you can for dimensions.

But there is no Template systems such. I proposed to Eric that it would be good if he would implement a Template system in the next upgrade of RealCADD, which I hope he will do :D . So in the File >> Save as ... menu there would be the additional option of saving as a "Template" and in the File menu there would be an additional possibility of File >> Open template ..., which I envisaged somewhat like the Open recent menu item, with a list of existing Templates – instead of a Clear menu item it could have + and - buttons to add or delete Templates.

I currently have a Templates folder, with my most common setups saved as blank drawings (with border and title box) - these are saved with names like "A3 1:10"; "A2 1:20" and so on. This works OK but it is a bit cumbersome as you then have to remember to save the "template" as something else before proceeding any further - whereas with a true template, as soon as you hit the Save button, it asks you what you want to save it as and saves it as an ordinary RealCADD drawing (unless of course you ask it to be saved as a Template .......). I can't tell you how many times I have messed up my so-called Templates by simply hitting the save button as I go along!

Cheers -- George

Bonjour Mike,

When you valide the preferences fixed in the dialog "Preferences", they become the general preferences and are used for new drawings.

But as George notes it, some other choices as scale, text size, font, ... are not saved as preferences.

I will work on this.

Cordialement.
