And another question ....

Post by debenriver »

Circles and arcs look really smooth and good on RealCADD. And they print really nicely. But when I save a drawing to PDF (which is the format I use to distribute them to builders etc.) both are blocky and heavier than on RealCADD. Lines, even curved looking lines (poly-curves) look reasonable - just PDF makes a mess of arcs and circles.

I assume this is a setting in Adobe, nothing to do with RealCADD?? If I increase the resolution on Adobe, it looks better, but not great. Or is it that I am drawing too thin a line anyway (0.1px) and would be better drawing thicker? I experimented with thicker lines. 0.5px still produced nice thin lines in PDF but the arcs were still blocky. 1px produced nice arcs but all the lines (including the arcs) were too thick and heavy!

Am I right in thinking that there's nothing can be done in RealCADD to make it better in PDF??

George,

How do you your pdf file?

By print to pdf file or by save as postscript file?
Can you send examples of such pdf files, please?

Thanks

Hi Eric

I use the Print function and then select PDF >> Save as PDF. I have also used PDF >> Save as Adobe PDF, which gives you a variety of further quality options – none of which seem to produce any real difference in their result.

Something odd seems to have happened to this option with Catalina – If I select it there is a vary quick screen (too quick to read) and I don't know what it does or where it saves to (if indeed it does save).

I sent you a PDF file and the RealCADD file from which it was derived.

I don't think PDF has ever been that great at rendering arcs ...

Cheers -- George
