My drawings don't use nearly as many dimensions as yours do, so it's not too much of a cludge. And it really does look better, IMO. So maybe Eric will build it in.

Oh – I'm glad about that. It wasn't logical that it wouldn't work!

Boat drawings are nearly always curves and seriously odd shapes. So you need lots of data to define them. And a lot of the parts are big. Even with the boat I am currently working on (20') a lot of the drawings have to drop down to 1:15 scale so they will fit on 11" x 17", or A3, paper. At any scale smaller than this, dimensioning starts to be a real problem; I generally use 9 point text as this stays readable both on screen and in print. But at 1:20 and smaller, the text dimensions start to overtake the drawing and it gets really hard to fit them in!

So anything that keeps dimensioning neat and contained is a boon!

I guess habit has something to do with it as well ....
