v. 5.40 slow

Hi Eric
With complicated drawings – specially (maybe only?) with those extracted from a PDF – v. 5.40 is very slow. Almost unusable at times. So, after I extract a drawing, I revert to using v. 5.31 which is much faster on the same extracted drawing.
Maybe there should be a means of turning the PDF function on and off?? I mean it's incredibly useful!! But it's a pain to have to go back to an earlier version once the drawing is extracted.
There are a lot of polygons in the drawings I have extracted, because there are a lot of curved lines – maybe that's the problem??
I have tried to check for Length object =0 or empty string, but Special select doesn't seem to work very well in v. 5.40 – or at least on an extracted drawing.
I can send you a typical extracted drawing. Maybe it's because I don't have the new M1-M2-M3 chips? I'm running 14.6.1 and have plenty of memory and storage. It's a 2020 13" MacBook Air with 16 GB memory, 1TB storage.
