New user stupid question

I can't seem to get Pocket Draw to do anything at all. For example, when I select a tool and touch the screen to draw, the tool buttons all go away leaving a blank screen. When I drag and then lift my finger, the tool buttons reappear but nothing is drawn. I'm using a New iPad (aka iPad 3). Pocket Draw Lite works fine.
