RealCADD5.71b2

Post by Eric Pousse »

Bonjour,

A new beta, RealCADD 5.71b2 is available :
- In the prefs, I have removed the choice for the popup menu tools. All tools are displayed.
- I have fixed a big slowdown while reading some dxf files.

Thanks.

Hello, Eric! It's been a while. I'm not using the app too often, because I've retired from the cabinetwork. My health just made it impossible to keep lifting those sheets of plywood!

I just installed the 5.71b2 beta. The tool shortcuts don't seem to work (L for the line tool, etc.) on Mac 13.7.7.

Still, thanks for keeping this great program going!

Bonjour Mike,

I don't have a Mac with system 13.
But I tried on macOS 10.14.6, 12.7.6, 15.7.2 and 26.1 without problem.

Thanks for your appreciation about RealCADD.

I have sort of the opposite problem!!

I have had a long-time unresolved problem that my RealCADD slows down after a time drawing, specially the tool selection, to the point where it becomes very difficult to use. Quitting the program and restarting restores it to normal speed and then after a time it slows down again. I've tried pretty much everything including updating my laptop to a MacBook Pro with an M4 chip, but the problem remains the same. And Eric hasn't been able to replicate it which is even more frustrating!

It does seem to principally affect tool selection, which gets slower and more hesitant, so the program is lagging behind mouse actions.

However, selecting the tool with a keystroke doesn't seem to be affected at all and remains very fast, even when selecting by mouse is so slow as to make it almost unusable. Trouble is I can't always remember the keystrokes! And once the program slows down hovering over a tool often displays the keystroke for a different tool, so doesn't help.

I wonder if it would be practical or useful to add a column to the Tools window to show the keystrokes for the principal tools – maybe a bit like this:

Add new keystrokes for Wall tool set and Shape tool set?

Just a thought -- Cheers -- George

Yes, George, now I can see the slowdown, but not as much as in your video.
I don't understand why this is happening but I made some modifications.
Can you try RealCADD version 5.71b3?
If it happens again, can you try to enable auto retraction of the tool palette?

Thanks.
Cordialement.

Hi Eric

At least you have been able to rep[licate it, even if not as severe – I was beginning to think it was just me!

I've downloaded v. 5.71b3 and I'll work using it. Also Tool pallet on the left and auto retract.

I'm using Tahoe 26.1 now.

Many thanks -- George

Edit: Oh your post suggesting tool pallet on the left seems to have disappeared!! Or did I imagine that?

Yes George, I deleted the post.

My principal Mac is ever with macOS 15.7.2 (Sequoia) but I have another Mac (mini M1) with 26.1.

Thanks.
